Happy Birthday Bella, Gazelle’s Dog Turns 10

Whoever said that a dog is "man's best friend" totally nailed it. Today, April 17th, my dog Bella is celebrating her 10th birthday and I couldn't be any more in love with this sweet girl.

Now, Bella isn't exactly an "active" dog, but she does enjoy chasing away the squirrels in the back yard. That's the only time you'll catch her with a case of the "zoomies". Otherwise, she normally spends her days napping, sun-bathing or watching the Amazon delivery workers from the living room window.

Although I've only known her for a little less than two years, my love for her is eternal. Between our cuddle sessions on the couch or at night before falling asleep and daily walks throughout the city, she's a pretty happy and spoiled dog to say the least who loves "cookies" (dog treats) and pepperoni. Just like your Dad (me), you're food motivated and there's no denying it.

Scratch and pet her head and she'll love you forever, but be aware that once you stop petting her, she'll keep bugging you until you continue again. Bella was adopted when she was five years old and has been given a life of happiness and joy ever since. When I'm having a tough day, she always knows and will rest her head on my leg or give sloppy kisses until my face is soaked with dog slobber. It's her way of saying "it's OK, Dad, I'll make you feel better" and it works every time.

Happy Birthday, Bella, here's to your tenth birthday and too many more. You're not one for presents, but this "Happy Birthday" cookie for dogs rom Emma Marie's should do the trick (oddly enough it smells delicious).

Thank you for being an awesome and easy-going dog who came into my life unexpected but at the perfect time. Not a day goes by that I'm not thankful that I get to come home to your overjoyed howls and "so happy to see you" barks. Here's too many more years and adventurous walks together.
