Fairhaven Remains in State of Emergency Days After Blizzard [PHOTOS]
After being buried under more than three feet of snow, Fairhaven remains in a state of emergency as town officials continue around-the-clock recovery efforts as of Wednesday morning.
Some neighborhoods saw more than 36 inches of accumulation during the blizzard, creating impassable roads, buried hydrants and widespread power outages. While Governor Maura Healey has lifted the statewide travel ban, local officials are urging residents to stay off the roads. As of Wednesday morning, only 65 percent of town streets are open.
A strict parking ban remains in effect and will be enforced to allow the Department of Public Works to continue clearing operations efficiently.

Road Recovery and Power Restoration Underway
According to the Town of Fairhaven, additional help is on the way as the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is sending equipment to assist local crews, with hopes of reaching full road access by Friday.

Power outages remain a concern, with approximately 350 households still without electricity. Eversource crews and their partners are working throughout town, and officials expect the majority of homes to have power restored by the end of the day.
Town leaders anticipate normal conditions will return by Saturday.
Closures, Cancellations and Community Requests
All town buildings are closed Wednesday except for essential emergency personnel. Schools remain closed, and trash and recycling pickup have been canceled for the week. Normal town operations are expected to resume Monday.
Officials are asking residents to:
- Call 9-1-1 for emergencies
- Contact the Fire Department at (508) 994-1428 if shelter is needed
- Check on neighbors, especially seniors
- Shovel out fire hydrants
- Clear sidewalks to ensure safe routes for children once schools reopen
- Check sump pumps and clear discharge lines to prevent basement flooding
- Keep generators free of snow and properly ventilated
- Clear storm drains if safely able
Finally, basement flooding is expected through the weekend as melting begins, so residents are urged to be alert.
