Gazelle Shares Heartfelt News: He’s About to Become a Father
The older I get, the more I think back on just how incredible life is. From the highest highs to the lowest lows, each moment and milestone led me to where I am today.
There were never any regrets, just lessons learned; I'm grateful for every step I took to bring me to this point. From various jobs and paychecks that got me by to the academic and career-driven accomplishments along the way, it all shaped me into the man I am today.
I’ve worn a lot of hats. I’m an older brother to an amazing guy I’m lucky enough to call my friend, a son to some of the best parents anyone could ask for, a colleague to brilliant and creative minds in the workforce, a friend to a close-knit group of people I consider my family, and most importantly—a husband to the most caring and wonderfully beautiful woman I’ve ever had the privilege to call my wife.
And now, I get to add one more hat to the coat rack: I’m about to become a father to a baby boy… this is for him:
To my son:
Forgive me for sounding cliché, but I haven’t even met you yet, and my love for you is overwhelmingly boundless, stretching far beyond what words could ever capture.
Come mid-May, you’ll be introduced to this crazy, yet beautiful world that we live in, and your mother and I simply can’t wait to see you.
I often wonder how I ended up so fortunate, so lucky, so incredibly spoiled with the hand of cards I was dealt, and perhaps it was meant to be so I could give you the very best life a father can provide. If you only knew how happy I was to hear your mother say those two simple words: “I’m pregnant,” it was instant joy, and boy, were there tears. God, I can’t wait to meet you.
There are so many things I want to teach you, just like my father did. Yes, that’s right, your grandfather was, and still is, a man of many trades, endless talents, and a heart full of love for everyone around him… especially for you. You can call him Papa.
When it comes to empathy and selflessly caring for others, you can thank my mom, your grandmother. She has a heart of gold and puts absolutely everyone else first. She’s patiently waiting for you as well… You can call her Grammy.
You even have an uncle and an auntie who are already amazing parents to a beautiful little girl, your cousin. I have a good feeling you two are bound to become best friends. My brother and sister-in-law are over the moon excited to meet you, and I can promise you this: they’ve got our backs, just as we’ll always have theirs.
Since 2023, our family officially grew in size when I married your mom, and her family became ours. Trust me when I say that your mom’s side is an incredible group of loving, accepting, and genuine people that I wouldn’t trade for the world—they’ve embraced me like one of their own from day one.
Your Nana and Pep have been waiting a long time for your arrival, so take your time, but don’t take too long. If there were anyone in the world I could choose to be my mother and father-in-laws, I’d choose them over and over again. You’re in great hands with them, just like I have been. Oh, and just wait until you get to meet your other uncle and auntie—they’re pretty smart and can teach you a thing or two.
It’s the perfect puzzle of a family, and you were the missing piece.
Lastly—there’s your Mom. Where do I begin with her? I guess I’ll start with a little vulnerability by telling you that she saved my life in more ways than one. She’s been my biggest support since the day I laid eyes on her, and although my life can get busy at times, she’s never missed a beat and has always been there for me—just as she will be for you. There’s no one in the history of mankind I’d want to be your mother other than her. Your mother is the most beautiful woman to ever walk into my life, and she has given me and all of us the best gift of all—you.
When all is said and done, and you’ve opened your eyes for the first time, do us all a favor and take your time in this fast-paced journey called life. It’s never going to be easy, but you have an army behind you. From your aunties, uncles, and even your great-Memere—who is over the moon excited to hold you in her arms—to my coworkers (they’re like a second family), to our friends… we’re all waiting for you.
Promise me this, and I’ll promise to take care of you for as long as I’m on this Earth: Stay humble and stay kind. Wise words your Grammie taught me that I live by every day. Do this, and you’ll grow up to do great things.
I love you, we love you, and before you know it, you’ll be spreading your light and making the world a better place… just because you’re in it.
See you soon, buddy.
