Good people of Westport and foodies of the SouthCoast, hear my words. I might have discovered gold and it's worth the drive.

Green Jar Cocina, a popular food truck, has found a permanent spot to park and serve its delicious fare. You can find it at the corner of Route 6 and Union Avenue in Westport, across from Rachel's Lakeside. It’s a perfect stop for anyone heading to or from the beaches via Route 88 or just traveling on Route 6 for any reason. The food truck will be open from Thursday to Sunday, offering a variety of specialty tacos, salads and, soon, a "quesadilla of the week."

Vegetarian options are also available.

Of course, I had to stop.

One of the six specialty tacos stands out above the rest: the Bifana taco. It's a mix of Portuguese pork loin, rice, Mozambique and crispy onions. This mouthwatering treat is bursting with Portuguese flavor. I paired it with the Nashville Chicken Taco and, honestly, I could have eaten a dozen of these. They were that good.

Owned by Jason Lewis and Carla DiCorpo, Green Jar Cocina also offers event catering services. Jason and Carla have been cooking together for 14 years. Their passion for food is evident in every dish.

"Me and my wife (Carla) have been cooking together since the day we met for the last 14 years. We both have a passion for food. With Green Jar Cocina, we’re always trying to do something different than anyone else, food you won’t find anywhere else, but also offer traditional and familiar options," Lewis said.

The truck's name reflects DiCorpo's commitment to using fresh, local ingredients— hence the "green" idea. Additionally, the first letter of each word represents the couple's children Gavin, Jackson and Colton. A family-oriented spirit drives the culinary venture.

The opening was initially planned a month earlier but was delayed due to a flurry of graduation parties that required their catering expertise. However, the wait is finally over, and the community can now enjoy their culinary delights four days a week.

“We have a solid staff to help take the pressure off the busy schedule,” Lewis assures.

Green Jar Cocina also has exciting plans for the future. The owners are looking to create an outdoor dining area for customers and will soon offer online ordering to make grabbing a bite even more convenient.

In a Facebook post, the business shared the excitement:

The Green Jar Cocina Truck has a new home! We will be parking several days a week on the corner of RT 6 & UNION AVE IN WESTPORT (across from Rachel's Lakeside). It's only a quick stop off 88 on the way to/from the beaches... bring your cooler and load up some tacos! The times may vary, but Green Jar we'll keep you posted on its social media.” Carla DiCorpo adds, “Thank you for all your support and we can't wait to see all our favorite and lots of new faces!
