Ladies and gentlemen, I've done it. I've found some of the best birria tacos in Massachusetts.

As many of you know, Frontera Grill in Fairhaven is one of my favorite restaurants here on the SouthCoast, but when I found out there was an Attleboro location that offered authentic (that's the key word) birria tacos, I was all in.

In case you're wondering, birria tacos are stuffed with juicy marinated meat, and seasoned to perfection with garlic, dried chilis, herbs and spices. Designed to be dipped in the same au jus in which the meat was marinated, it's a full-blown fiesta in your mouth and let me tell you, it was worth the drive.

I was greeted with the same festive and polite hospitality as the Fairhaven location. As soon as the server sat me down, I knew exactly what I wanted to order.

"Birria tacos, por favor," I said confidently to the nice man as I added a frozen mango habanero margarita to the mix while waiting for my tacos to arrive. Moments later, I could smell the tacos before I saw them. I was ready to eat.

Honestly, it was the dipping sauce for me. The au jus was rich and flavorful, topped with cilantro, onion and a dash of freshly squeezed lime juice.

The taco was cheesy, melty, savory and piping hot out of the kitchen. The soft tortilla shell was perfectly fried, stuffed with juicy strips of beef and loaded with a cheese blend and queso con fresco. It was a dream vacation for my taste buds and I didn't want it to end.

If you've been looking for birria tacos done right, then I'd recommend the ones at Frontera Grill, 287 Washington St., Attleboro.
