Nick Coit’s Patriots Preview: Seattle Seahawks, Week 2

The new-look New England Patriots got off to a pretty good start last Sunday at Gillette. While the competition wasn't exactly at the elite level for NFL play, you can only beat the team that you are playing. In other words, even though the defense was excellent and the team played pretty well overall, let's face it, it was just Miami.

This weekend will be much, much different as the Patriots have their first nationally televised game of the season. Sunday Night Football will presumably be live from Seattle, although there is some question about whether or not the game might be moved further away from the wildfires that have been ravaging Oregon and harming the air quality.

ABC6 Sports Director Nick Coit said that it would be easy enough to pick up and move the game to a more stable location, particularly because no tickets were sold to the game.

As far as football is concerned, "this is a different Seahawks team than what we saw six years ago in the Super Bowl," said Coit. "The only consistent things there are the quarterback, the coach, and Bobby Wagner is one of the best linebackers in the game. Everything else around those three guys has been revamped and rebuilt and I give credit to the Seahawks, they're always tough."

One thing that will definitely be in the Patriots favor is the fact that this game will not be played in front of fans. Seattle is notorious for having an incredibly loud crowd to the point that their stadium fans have been nicknamed the "12th Man."

As much as Coit would like to see the Patriots go out to Seattle and knock off the Seahawks, he doesn't see it happening. However, if it does happen, it would be quite a statement.
