El Presidente strikes again.

Barstool Sports CEO and self-acclaimed pizza connoisseur, David Portnoy, takes pride in rating pizzas all over the country, and thanks to his incredibly loyal Barstool fans, his “Barstool Pizza Review” segments have the ability to make or break local pizza joints.

Portnoy is known for vacationing on Nantucket, but he decided to take a quick helicopter ride from Montauk to New Shoreham on Friday in search of the next best slice.

He has taken his reviews to Rhode Island and he has taken his reviews to Nantucket, and on Friday, he took his first trip to Block Island, Rhode Island, to take a bite out of Block Island Pizza Pie Company.

Here’s how it went.

Block Island Pizza Pie Company

Since 2017, Block Island Pizza Pie Company has been serving up New York-style pizza out of its casual dining spot on Corn Neck Road. With homemade sauce and a variety of toppings, it has all the ingredients for a high Pizza Review score. But it all boils down to one man. What does Portnoy think?

Repping a throwback Patriots graphic t-shirt with a giant pie in hand, Portnoy admittedly felt extreme pressure from the pizza spot as he got ready to complete his review with the owners carefully watching behind the scenes.

“I’m feeling so much pressure, it’s crazy,” he said. “The owners just took the place over, so there’s a lot of pressure on this review…the whole family’s here, they got the dog, they got the family…it’s a big to-do,” he said.

The first compliment went to the size of the slice and how big it was. Solid start.

“Pretty good undercarriage,” he added. No floppy pizza here.

His only critique was saved for the greasiness of the pizza.

“It’s a little greasy, but you can definitely eat this and be happy about it, there’s no doubt about that.”

After one bite (or a few), Portnoy served Block Island Pizza Pie Company with a respectable 7.2.

Next time you take the ferry over to the Block, be sure to grab some napkins and stop by Block Island Pizza Pie Company for some "El Pres"-approved pizza.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
