Bird-Flipping Teen Apologizes To Judge, Avoids Jail

When 19-year-old Florida drug suspect Penelope Soto decided to flip-off the judge in the drug case against her last week, she not only became a viral video star, but she also get herself sentenced to 30 days in jail.

But, showing some better judgement in her next appearance before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat on Friday, Soto apologized for her obscene gesture and verbal reinforcement of that gesture. Soto blamed alcohol and Xanax for her "irrational" outburst. As a result, and with a promise from Soto's attorney insisting she will undergo drug counseling, the judge vacated the sentence.
