What You Need to Know About Tonight’s Meteor Shower
Tonight's Geminid meteor shower is predicted to be one of the best of the year.
Because we'll have super clear skies tonight, it is the perfect climate to watch the meteor shower. We'll have a mostly cloud-less sky, and the moon won't be too bright that it will obscure the view.
The shower will peak between 7:30 p.m. and 4 a.m., but will be the best for viewing after midnight, regardless of where you're watching.
This particular shower is named after the constellation Gemini, as they appear to fall from that constellation in the sky.
According to experts, you could see one to two meteors per minute, even under cloudy conditions.
Here's some places to watch:
Gooseberry Island, Westport
West Island, Fairhaven
Fort Phoenix, Fairhaven
Potato Hill, Westport
You'll want to find places that have minimal light pollution, but even if you can only watch your backyard, it'll still be spectacular!
