Massachusetts Horror Movie Filmed in New Bedford Seeks Brave Test Audience
If you've ever wanted to see a locally made horror movie before the rest of the world does, here's your chance. SouthCoast filmmakers Garry Medeiros and Walter Rivero of Sai-Con Productions are inviting the public to a free screening of their latest horror feature, Sins of the Devil, on Wednesday, June 18, in downtown New Bedford.
The screening is also a chance for moviegoers to help shape the final product before its official release. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at Your Theatre, located at 159 William Street in New Bedford, with the movie beginning promptly at 7 p.m.
Admission is free, but seating is first come, first served.

A Horror Story With SouthCoast Roots
Sins of the Devil follows a young woman celebrating her 18th birthday with friends when mysterious figures begin stalking her. As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed and unexpected twists begin to emerge. "It's a horror film, but there's a mystery element to it," Medeiros said. "As the movie goes on, things get revealed and there are twists here and there."
The film was written by Christopher Kelly from an idea developed by Medeiros and produced through Sai-Con Productions, the independent filmmaking partnership between Medeiros and Rivero.
Filmed in New Bedford and Westport
One of the things that makes Sins of the Devil unique is how much of the SouthCoast appears on screen. According to Medeiros, roughly half of the movie was filmed in New Bedford and the other half in Westport.

Downtown New Bedford locations appear throughout the film, while many of the wooded scenes and the house featured in the story were filmed in Westport. Medeiros, a Dartmouth resident who was born in New Bedford, said keeping productions local has always been important to him. "This is our hometown," he said.
Why This Screening Matters
While the film is about 90 to 95 percent complete, Medeiros said the June 18 screening will function as a test audience event. Attendees will be able to scan a QR code and provide feedback on everything from pacing to story clarity. The goal is to fine-tune the movie before a larger premiere and eventual film festival run later this year.
Medeiros has been making movies since middle school and previously found success with The Terror Factor and Plaga Zombie: American Invasion, the latter of which became available worldwide on platforms including Prime Video, Apple TV and Tubi. For local film fans, this is a rare chance to get an early look at a homegrown horror movie years in the making before it heads out into the world.
