Back-to-School Dates for Every SouthCoast District

In the words of the great Adam Sandler: "Oh, back to school, back to school..."

That's right kids, those cruel summer blues have officially sunk in and on the air this morning, Michaela Johnson and I found ourselves wondering the same thing many SouthCoast families are asking right now: when do the kids officially go back to school?

Not only does it mean the end of summer freedom, but also the return of early alarms, school bus traffic, and backpacks stuffed with supplies.

While we’re not sure where the time went – seriously, summer felt way too short with not nearly enough beach days or late-night ice cream trips – it’s back-to-school week across the region.

• Greater New Bedford Regional Voc-Tech (GNBVT) — First day for all students.

Who Starts Wednesday, August 27, 2025

• New Bedford Public Schools (grades 9 and 12 on Wed; grades 1-8 and 10 and 11 on Thu)
• Dartmouth Public Schools
• Fairhaven Public Schools
• Acushnet Public Schools
• Somerset Public and Somerset Berkley
• Swansea Public Schools
• Old Rochester Regional (Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester)
• Wareham Public Schools
• Fall River Public Schools
• Diman Regional Voc-Tech (Fall River)
• Seekonk Public Schools

Starting Thursday August 28, 2025 and Beyond

• Westport Community Schools — Thu, Aug. 28
• Alma del Mar Charter (New Bedford) — Already began Mon, Aug. 18
• Atlantis Charter (Fall River) — Already began Mon, Aug. 25
• Global Learning Charter (New Bedford) — Tuesday, Sep. 2 for all grades.
