We've heard of the dog days of summer, but this is the first time I've been aware of "National Dog Day."  It's been around since 2004, and those in the know say that nearly 1 Million dogs have been saved through adoption from shelters since that time.

Recommendations for celebrating Dog Day range from rescuing a dog from a shelter to giving your dog a holistic spa treatment.   The national Dog Day Foundation supports all breeds of dogs and discourages us from buy from unethical back yard breeders or puppy mills.

Take time to value the love and value dogs bring to our daily lives.  From simple companionship, to keeping us safe by working for emergency and law enforcement agencies, to supporting people who are blind, deaf or disabled, dog do a lot for us humans.
