Tired Of Shoveling? Try A Heated Driveway
With all of the snow we've seen over the past month, sore backs are becoming an epidemic here on the Southcoast. Could there be something that could make shoveling a thing of the past? We checked out heated driveways.
It's true, a heated driveway is an actual thing. When the temperatures drop, heated water and antifreeze are pumped into the tubing. Once this is done, it will melt any drop of snow that lands on your driveway. With a simple flip of a switch, you can come home to a clean snow-free driveway.
Do you have to rip up your drive way to install this feature? More than likely. There has been instances where the tubing was able to be installed under the current driveway. However, these instances are just not as typical. Also, many of the systems that can be installed with an existing driveway come with little to no warranty. Replacing the driveway ensures that the system is installed correctly.
So how much does it cost to have this miraculous system? According to Home Advisor, the cost of a heated driveway system is between $12-$21 per square foot. The installation prices ranges from $1,300-7,500. There is also the removal of the driveway cost. Asphalt paving cost $4,457 and concrete driveways cost $3,650. Overall, installing this system could cost you anywhere between 7,000- 15,000. These are average prices, but we suggest getting a quote from a professional. Another option is to give the neighborhood kids some extra cash to shovel your driveway.
