Michael Rock Gets Roasted on his 29th Anniversary at Fun 107

September 11, 2024, marks 29 years behind the microphone at Fun 107 for Michael Rock.

Doing anything for 29 years is an accomplishment, but doing what you love for almost three decades is unheard of.

I mean it when I say this man hasn’t worked a day in his life. He was born to be on the radio. He is the heart and soul of the radio station and being his cohost is truly a blessing.

With that being said, Gazelle and I couldn’t resist poking a little fun at him on his special day.

Over the past 29 years, Michael has “grown up” on air. He has gotten engaged, gotten married, had children and got a deeper voice.

Gazelle and I went way back into the Fun 107 archives to find a clip of Michael on air back in 1997, and it did not disappoint.

“Were you eating helium for breakfast?” I asked him.

With a mortified look on his face, he quickly defended himself.

“I will say this because I have to defend myself on this," he said. "For a period of time, the cassette deck -- because that's what we had back in the day -- recorded the audio and it was not on the right pace,” he said. “It sped it up. I didn’t sound that bad, but what I was saying was crazy.”

After listening to that clip, you will never say “New Beige” the same way ever again.

We love you, Michael! Boy, have you come a long way.
