The Five Moms You’ll See at School Drop-Off

Everyone knows this mom - she's super chill, the kids love her because she let them get mohawk haircuts for the first day, she's not panicking because someone forgot their pencil case or slipped getting out of the mini-van. She's just here to see her kids off and is completely unimpressed by the happenings at the drop-off circle.

She carved out an hour between spin class and Pilates so she could bring her kids to school. She's already counted the lunges she did from the parking lot to the door and is taking breaks from talking to the other moms to do some jumping jacks and check her heart rate monitor. She may be sipping on a protein shake or chugging water - it really depends where she is in her workout regiment for the day.

She showed up with a play-date schedule, book club schedule, after-school activity schedule and is taking selfies and pictures of the kids like she has 47 albums to fill. She knows everyone by name, including bus drivers, the principal, the teachers and even her kids friend's dogs.

Dad-mom really can't chat because he's can't risk breaking the baby bounce rhythm. He's got the baby strapped to him, the diaper bag, the backpack, the lunchbox, some other kid's lunchbox and he's just saying a little prayer to the iced coffee gods that there's never, ever a shortage.

The reason she's a mystery is because no one is really sure what this mom looks like. The closest you've come to seeing her face is seeing a blur go by through the mini-van window after a jacket, backpack and kid come tumbling out of the back. She's probably so busy that she barely even has time to slow to a stop. Maybe she's a business owner, maybe she has a job to get to or maybe she just has three more kids to get to other destinations or activities. Either way, she's very elusive.
