Massachusetts Janitor Goes Viral, Lands on Kelly Clarkson Show

Custodian by day, comic by night. Now, Worcester native Jimmy Cash can add TV star to his resume.

From Worcester School to National TV

The Worcester Elementary School janitor was recently featured alongside his daughter Annabelle on The Kelly Clarkson Show during a segment called "What I'm Liking."

"We had a great time doing The Kelly Clarkson Show. Everyone is so cool that works for her," Cash said. "Annie was nervous leading up to the show and I was chill, but once we were on and waiting for Kelly to talk to us, I became more nervous than Annie."

The pair joined Clarkson virtually to talk about their social media video, taken by Cash, that quickly went viral.

The Surprise That Started It All

His original post, which he shared on TikTok and Instagram, features Cash surprising his daughter, who happened to be teaching at the Massachusetts elementary school where he works as a janitor.

"It was like a curve ball for her because she had never taught a class before and I walked in to shake things up," he said. "She seemed to get a kick out of it but it definitely threw her off a bit. But she recovered well."

How the Viral Video Took Off

The video has received over 800,000 likes across TikTok and Instagram, something Cash couldn't believe.

"I was like, 'Huh, that’s a little more than usual with my posts,'" Cash said. He immediately texted Annabelle, telling her, "We're blowing up!"

It was that video that caught the eye of The Kelly Clarkson Show. The rest, as they say, is history.

"Kelly was so kind and easy to talk to though. All our family friends tuned in and were so pumped for us. I can’t believe how many people I’ve run into that mention they saw us on the show," Cash said.
