It has been over a week since we learned that Tom Brady has left the Patriots and signed with the Buccaneers but one burning question is still left for me.

Am I a Patriots fan?

I know this sounds crazy, but I pretty much got into watching football around the time that Tom took over as quarterback of the New England Patriots.

So my time as a football fan and a Patriots fan has meant being a Brady fan.

So what am I now?

Only time will really tell, but in thinking about it for the last week I do in fact think I am a Patriots fan as well as a typical Boston sports fan.

I say this because I know I am going to watch the Patriots to see what happens next season and I don't really want to see Brady succeed in Tampa Bay in his first season.

Don't get me wrong, I wish him the best and respect his decision. But I don't want him to see immediate success on the football field away from Patriots.

On the same note, I don't really want to see the Patriots have immediate success without Brady either.

(I think I'm probably safe on that last one)

Personally I think this entire thing was a bad decision and now I want both Brady and Belichick to struggle without the other. I'd like them both to have seasons that leave them with a new appreciation of the magic they made together.

They probably won't be thinking that way at all next season, but personally I'd like them too.

But no matter how they play, I will most likely watch them both.

For me I think seeing how the Patriots come back from this huge change (all of the other player changes) is going to make the next season even more exciting.

Nothing is a given anymore and there are no expectations.

It'll be intriguing to watch the page turn and a new Patriots story start to be written and I can't wait to see what happens.
