Retiring Patriot Devin McCourty Buys ‘Thank You’ Billboards, But Not on the SouthCoast
Longtime New England Patriot Devin McCourty has announced his retirement and is now thanking the fans who supported him for 13 seasons in a big way – just apparently not here on the SouthCoast.
Following his retirement announcement on March 10, McCourty purchased 37 billboards with a special message for the fans, spread out across different parts of Massachusetts.
The billboards read “Thank you NE! You helped a young kid become a man, father, husband and a 3X CHAMP!” along with McCourty’s name and signature.
According to CBS Boston, the 37 billboards are located in Boston, Revere, Peabody, Medford, Stoneham, Wrentham, Norwood, Woburn, West Bridgewater, Westborough, Worcester, Lowell, Lawrence, Methuen, Haverhill and Lawrence.
You know where they aren’t? New Bedford, Fall River or anywhere else on the SouthCoast.

The people here certainly were McCourty fans, too. What’s not to love about a guy who embodied everything it meant to be a Patriot, a guy who only missed five games in his 13 seasons while also winning three Super Bowls, making the Pro Bowl four times, and doing all the other spectacular things he did on the field over the years?
Heck, even McCourty’s Quick Slants buddy Tom E. Curran is a Lakeville guy. Why no love for the SouthCoast?
Of course, we’re just teasing No. 32. He’s had a stellar career and has been everything the Patriots could have wanted when they drafted him with the 27th overall pick in 2010. He’s a surefire Patriots Hall of Famer and has a legit shot at the NFL Hall of Fame as well.
Still, it would have been nice to see one of those billboards on the side of I-195.
