The town of Swansea is continuing to pour its labor of love into Swansea Memorial Park. Recently, the town unveiled a brand new playground in the park, and soon, a new Fitness Court Studio will join the evolving community space.

Mallory Aronstein, the Town Administrator, is thrilled to make this innovative idea a reality for Swansea.

“I was approached by the former Parks & Rec Superintendant, who let me know about this great opportunity,” she said. “We had a meeting with the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) and I thought it was so cool. We involved the Parks Commission and we made it a reality.”

In partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield and NFC, the fitness court studio will bring even more life to Swansea Memorial Park.

“It’s an initiative to help residents practice healthy living and be active in their own communities,” said Aronstein.

What to Expect at Swansea Fitness Court Studio

Across from the brand-new playground at Swansea Memorial Park will be the new 2,774-square-foot fitness court studio. Eye-catching artwork that reads “Swansea” will be the first thing people see upon entering the park, and the court will be home to not only equipment but also fitness classes.

“On one side of the Swansea wall will be group exercise classes, and the other side is an outdoor fitness gym,” explained Aronstein.

The fitness court studio is for people 14 years of age and older, and each piece of equipment will have directions on how to use it properly.

“This is for ADA folks, senior citizens, and it will be a cool place for group exercise classes outside,” said Aronstein. “Thanks to the Shared Streets Program, we were able to put a walking path around the entire park, and we really just want everyone to take advantage of this awesome place that we have. It’s such a gem.”

Aronstein credits the incredible work of the highway team for getting the project done, and she looks forward to cutting the ribbon soon for an opening ceremony.

“Expect the court to be open in early November,” she said.

Keep an eye out for the grand opening of this innovative project.
