Seekonk Speedway Thrill Show Turns Into Surprise Engagement for Massachusetts Couple

I’m a sucker for a good love story, especially when it comes full circle. A Rumford couple recently got engaged right on the track at Seekonk Speedway, where they first met nine years ago. After speaking with bride-to-be Corbin Ferreira, I can understand why she’s still on cloud nine.

Corbin, a Swansea native, was at a thrill show when she met her future fiancé Alex. They walked past each other a few times before he tapped her on the shoulder, and they ended up talking through the show. He asked for her number, and their family now includes two sons together and Corbin’s daughter.

When it came time to plan the proposal, Corbin unknowingly made things easier. She suggested they go to a thrill show, having no idea he had already arranged the surprise with Speedway staff. Their children were going with her parents, so the family would be there to see it.

A Surprise at the Finish Line

There was one little clue, although Corbin didn’t realize it at the time. While they waited, Alex mentioned how clammy his hands were. Then her daughter suggested taking pictures near the finish line, helping get everyone into place. Once they were on the track, Alex took the microphone and mentioned where they first met near turn three.

He reminded her that nine years had passed since that day. Now, with their children there to witness it, he asked Corbin to marry him. Of course, she said yes. Corbin told me she was shocked he had managed to keep the whole thing a secret. They had gone ring shopping months earlier, but she never imagined he would pull off a surprise like this.

To the Moon and Around the Racetrack

What really got me was the meaning behind his choice of location. Corbin has a saying she shares with him: I love you to the moon and back and all around the racetrack. He knew just how much proposing there would mean to her.

Even with everyone cheering, Corbin said the world seemed to go quiet. All she could hear was him, and having their children there made it that much sweeter. Nine years after a tap on the shoulder, they’re starting another chapter at the very place it all began.

As for her fiancé, Corbin had one more surprise planned: sharing their story for his 40th birthday on October 15. He had already told her not to buy him anything else after having her order some car parts. Something tells me he’ll appreciate this little extra.
