Less than two months ago construction started on a new playground at Swansea Memorial Park. Now we seem to be just days away from taking the kiddos to climb on it.

Though folks driving by the Milford Road park may think things look ready to play, the town is urging eager climbers to be patient since construction is still underway and the park isn't quite ready yet.

But it will be in a matter of days.

Just this past weekend, the town shared a Facebook post of the brand new playscape that looks like it was made out natural wood.

At that time they also stated that the playground was still about a week away from being completed. That could give parents a new place to take the kids as early as this weekend, if all keeps going according to plan.

Unlike many plastic playgrounds that pop up these days, the new Swansea park has swing hangings from large, wooden posts, a long, log see-saw and other wooden structures for sliding and climbing.

And climbing is just what kids are going to want to do on this natural looking playscape.

But they do still need to wait a little bit longer.

Though a layer of rubber matting has gone down and the artificial turf was put down over that, the edges of the playground are still a work in progress.

There are other projects within Swansea Memorial Park as well, such as fresh coats of paint on the park's basketball and tennis courts.

Plus the final touch will be finding a new home for the Veterans bricks that were at the center of the old playground. Those were removed with care when construction began in May and the town says the will be reinstalled in the park after the playground is complete.
