Supt. Dr. Pia Durkin had little new information to share Thursday night with the School Committee about the alarm failure earlier this year at Keith Middle School.

The school was the scene of a break-in two months ago, and two adults and 11 juveniles were charged with vandalizing the building.

School officials then learned the alarm hadn't been operating for some time. Supt. Durkin says the alarm problems may have dated back to 2012, so she's not sure who to blame.....

Durkin would not disclose any disciplinary action that's been taken, but she says the alarm at Keith Middle School is now working.

She's also instituting new protocols to have alarms tested in all schools on the regular basis, and that any malfunctions must be reported immediately.
