I understand this year has been horrific. We all want it to end ASAP, but I just have one small request: can we stop rushing through summer and begging for the fall season on social media? I have one more month of summer left, and I want to enjoy it.

Over the past few days, I have noticed so many people sharing memes and photos begging for apple-picking, autumn leaves, cinnamon donuts, and hayrides. I’ll admit, the fall season is one of my favorites and I am excited for it, but when the time comes. Can we just enjoy the summer first?

I understand it’s very hot. The past few weeks have made me feel like an ant under a magnifying glass, burning alive. However, I am not quite ready to feel a constant chill in the air and have blankets at the ready around my house. I still have quality summer days to experience. More beaches to see, more swimming and more tanning to do. I love pumpkin spice as much as the next person, but let’s enjoy July and August first.

Gazelle disagrees. On Michael and Maddie this morning, he expressed that he has accomplished everything he wanted to do this summer, adding “Let’s put it this way, my philosophy is you can only take off so many clothes in the summer, but in the wintertime, you can add as many sweaters as you want.”

Jess from Fairhaven chimed in, coming to my defense to say, “Maddie, I am with you on the whole wishing away summer thing! I love fall and Halloween, but summer is always so short in New England and we need to enjoy it!”

So, what do you think? Are you on Team Maddie or Team Gazelle?
