It seems like everywhere I turn I'm seeing something pumpkin. And I'm not ready.

I know I'm not alone in thinking stores rush everything these days.

We are barely halfway through August and already the Halloween candy and pumpkin products are hitting the shelves.

Just stop!

There is no way I am ready for pumpkin-flavored anything. I'm still enjoying all things watermelon, then I'll move on to apples in September and shift my focus to pumpkin for October and probably November.

There is an order here. A time and a place for every flavor. Calm down, pumpkin, nobody wants you here yet.

I know it's the way shopping is these days. It's the "put the seasonal stuff out a season earlier than you need it so you have when that season arrives" way of thinking. But I don't think that way. I don't shop for school supplies in July, Halloween costumes in August and Christmas gifts in September.

I buy those things when I actually need them. Otherwise, I tuck them somewhere in my house until I do need them and then forget where they are when the right season comes around and have to buy them again anyway.

I'm too scatterbrained to shop ahead.

So back off, pumpkin. You wait your turn. October will be here before we know it.
