Stonehill College Buys Massachusetts Golf Course for New NCAA Program
Golf appears to be experiencing a resurgence among younger people, to the extent that Stonehill College has purchased its own golf course and is launching a new men's golf program.
Stonehill College Expands Its Golf Program
Stonehill College, a private Catholic college in Easton, Massachusetts, said in a statement that it has "entered an agreement to purchase Easton Country Club, a 150-acre golf course," to provide a "new home base for Stonehill's NCAA Division I women's golf team."
The golf course will also be home to a "men's golf program that will begin NCAA Division I competition during the 2027-2028 season."

The statement says, "This acquisition aligns with priorities outlined in Stonehill 2030: Building Together, the institution's five-year strategic plan, by reinforcing its commitment to holistic student growth."
Easton Country Club Will Remain Semi-Private
The agreement calls for Easton Country Club to remain a semi-private venue, "offering a vibrant destination for Stonehill students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as the local golfing community."
Easton is in Bristol County in southeastern Massachusetts.
The Easton Country Club website says the course features "superbly maintained greens and fairways" and "suitable for golfers of all abilities." The Country Club boasts some of the best greens "year after year," "the hidden gem of Massachusetts golf courses."
Golf Is Growing in Popularity With Younger Players
The National Golf Foundation (NGF) says, "Golf is experiencing a significant surge in popularity, with over 500 million rounds played annually in the U.S. in recent years and record-high engagement."
NGF says, "The rise of entertainment venues like Topgolf and indoor simulators has attracted new, younger, and more diverse demographics to the sport."
