For many golfers, a day on the course is all about friendly competition, fresh air and maybe a few laughs with friends. On July 28, however, every swing at the Fall River Country Club will help support something much bigger than the scorecard.

The inaugural Good Dad Gang Charity Tournament is coming to Fall River Country Club, bringing together golfers, community leaders and supporters for a day of fundraising that will directly benefit children through the organization's annual backpack giveaway program. There will be a shotgun start and special guest appearance from world-renowned golf instructor Sean Foley.

According to Good Dad Gang founder Daniel Carrillo, better known to many as rapper Termanology, the tournament is the latest way the nonprofit continues its mission of supporting families and giving back to communities that need it most.

More Than Just a Round of Golf

Carrillo said the idea for the tournament came from Gregory Molinar of Vanson Leathers, who believed golf would be a unique and effective way to raise money for the organization's charitable efforts.

"We've been doing all kinds of activations and different things over the last 12 years since the creation of Good Dad Gang, and this is our first golf tournament," Carrillo said. "It's really all about having a good time and raising money for a good cause."

The money raised will support backpack giveaways for students in both Fall River and Lawrence, Massachusetts, providing school supplies and other necessities to families preparing for a new school year. Carrillo said the need became clear after years of hosting community giveaways.

"I started noticing every single year hundreds of people would show up and be so thankful and grateful for the small things that we do for them," he said. "Once we realized how much people really could use it, we started expanding to different cities."

Why Fall River?

Although Good Dad Gang began its backpack initiative in Lawrence, Carrillo said Fall River quickly became a natural fit. "Fall River is very similar to Lawrence," he said. "When Greg brought the idea of bringing the Good Dad Gang backpack giveaway to Fall River, I thought it was a great idea."

Today, the SouthCoast city has become what Carrillo calls a "second home" for the nonprofit as it continues building relationships and helping local families.

Sean Foley Adds Star Power

One of the biggest draws for golfers will be the presence of Foley, one of the most respected golf instructors in the world. He has worked with some of the sport's biggest names, including Tiger Woods, and remains one of golf's most sought-after coaches.

"He's all for the cause," Carrillo said. "He keeps telling us how excited he is to come down, and he can't wait." That means golfers could walk away with more than just memories and a good cause supported. They may also pick up a few tips from one of the game's most respected minds.
