Are you a musical maven? Do you enjoy performing on stage? Longplex Family & Sports Center in Tiverton, Rhode Island is hosting an eight-week long singing competition with the big winner taking home some big bucks.

Local singers can showcase their talent in Longplex's "Karaoke Star of the Stage" competition. It will take the stage at Sports Kitchen in Longplex starting Friday, February 7.

Registration is required each week, with a deadline of Thursday morning each week. Five backup contestants will also be selected to fill in for any cancellations or no-shows.

In addition to some general information like name, date of birth and contact information, registrants must also provide two song choices; a first and a backup in case the preferred choice has been selected by another contestant.

If selected, you'll be contacted Thursday. Arrive early, around 7:30 p.m., to warm up your voice. The competition kicks off at 8:30 p.m. The top two contestants will move on each week.

After eight weeks of qualifying rounds, the 16 finalists (with the potential of two to four wild cards) will belt it out during the finals on April 4. I will judge alongside other local celebrity guest judges. The local singer who makes it through the qualifying rounds, into the finals and emerges victorious will take home the grand prize of $3,000.

Contestants must be 16 years or older to enter. Bring your families, friends and cheering section along to up your chances of taking home the title.
