An act of bravery from a six-year-old boy has gone viral thanks to an Instagram post by his aunt.

Bridger from Wyoming is currently recovering from a vicious dog after saving his sister from a brutal attack, leaving the boy with over 90 stitches.

Courage comes in all shapes and sizes, and this little boy is my new hero.

Nikki Walker recalled the terrifying story of her nephew saving his little sister’s life.

“He, himself, took on the attack so that the dog wouldn’t get his sister," she wrote.

Bridger stood between her and a charging dog. He got bit several times on the face and head before grabbing his sister’s hand and running away to keep her safe. When asked why he decided to react so quickly, Bridger said, “If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me.” Nikki said that “after receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home.”

Nikki, Bridger, and their family have been “blown away” by the comments and messages of support and praise for Bridger’s act of courage. Bridger is a big fan of geology, so to keep Bridger’s spirits up while he recovers, Nikki has posted a photo of rocks, asking others to share photos of interesting rocks that they come across. She even posted an address where you can send this little hero your own rocks.

You can’t teach heart. This boy was willing to face death to keep his sister safe, and that’s the purest form of love I have ever heard. I don’t think Bridger understands the level of courage he displayed; he merely acted upon a "fight or flight" response and chose the former.

Bridger may end up with some scars, but his act of valor saved his sister’s life, and for that, I consider him a hero.
