It's a staple in the Portuguese refrigerator. It's a staple in the Portuguese garden. And best of all, it's a staple on the Portuguese dinner table.  I'm talking about Kale. Sopa de Couve, Caldo Verde and boiled dinners will include this "super food" as deemed by the healthy gals at Boutique Fitness.

Who knew? Our grandmother and mothers were way ahead of the curve or "couve." They served us a food that's ridiculously good for you in a delicious way. Kale is loaded with vitamins like B, K, potassium and calcium.

If you don't know how to make Kale soup, click here for Emeril Lagasse's Kicked Up Kale Soup recipe. Or, hang out in the kitchen with your mother or vavo and take notes!
