If you’ve driven past the old GameStop in Dartmouth and thought, “What’s going there next?” then get ready, because this one’s a healthy plot twist.

A brand-new fitness studio is moving in, and it’s bringing a workout style that’s already blowing up in bigger cities. It’s called Micro Moves Lagree Studio, and it’s opening inside the Dartmouth Towne Center by a 28-year-old Dartmouth native turning her passion into a full-time business.

Meet Victoria Stockbarger, the owner behind the new studio. She recently made the leap from the corporate world into fitness after discovering Lagree in 2024 – and she hasn’t looked back since.

What Exactly Is Lagree?

If you’re thinking “Pilates,” you’re kind of on the right track, but not really.

Stockbarger described Lagree as a method that blends Pilates-style movements with strength training to create something entirely different. It’s done on a machine similar to a Pilates reformer, but the workout itself is more intense.

In her words, it’s often described as “Pilates on steroids.”

Don’t worry, though. This isn’t a “hot” workout like hot yoga. While the studio may feel slightly warm, it won’t be cranked up to extreme temperatures.

From Banking to Business Owner

Before launching Micro Moves, Stockbarger was working in banking and business development, helping other companies grow.

Along the way, she realized something: she could build something of her own.

Pair that mindset with her newfound love for Lagree, and everything clicked.

“I’m passionate about it and I love it. It’s a tried and true method for someone that wants to move their body,” she said.

What to Expect When You Walk In

The studio plans to offer classes seven days a week, with both morning and evening options – perfect for squeezing in a workout before or after work.

If you’re new, you’re covered.

Stockbarger said beginner classes will be a big focus, with more hands-on instruction, slower pacing, and a chance to really learn the movements.

Her message to future clients is simple: don’t be intimidated.

“Come in with an open mind and bring a friend, bring a good vibe,” she said.

Whether you’re 18 or 65, this is designed to be accessible. Just expect to feel the burn in a whole new way. If you’ve been waiting for something fresh in the local fitness scene, this might be it.

GameStop is out and full-body micro-burn is officially in.
