2014 is rapidly coming to a close and Babycenter.com has released it's list of the most popular baby names of the year.

The top three names on both the boys and girls list remained exactly the same as last year and are still: Sophia, Emma, Olivia and Jackson, Aiden, Liam, respectively.

I'm happy to see that my very favorite name is no longer in the top 10.  Chloe!  That's been my favorite name since I was 14 years old, and I always said if I ever had a daughter that would be her name.  So I was bummed when it became really popular...but 'Madison' got bumped up to #10 now, knocking Chloe from that top ten spot.

Babycenter.com's ratings are based on over 406,000 babies born in the year of 2014, and they also take some other things into consideration, like popular TV shows, movies and sports, because they sometimes have an influence on what a child is named.

For example, they took stats from the movie Frozen, and seeing that it was such a huge hit, it did have an impact on what parents named their kids this year.  The name 'Elsa' and the name 'Duke' both jumped 29 percent.  Believe it or not, even Derek Jeter's retirement played a part in naming babies...as the name 'Jeter' rose 82 percent, and oddly enough, his first name 'Derek' only rose four percent.
