Massachusetts Ranks No. 2 Nationwide for Healthcare
U.S. News and World Report has released its power rankings for the best states to live in, listed 1 to 50. Overall, as much as we may or may not complain about living here, the taxes, the traffic, and the politicians, Massachusetts ranks in the Top 10 for best states to live in 2021.
This report is consistent with other measures and studies that were released recently that identifies Massachusetts as one of the safest places to live in the entire country, if not the entire world.
Two other major factors push Massachusetts to the Top 10 on this list: healthcare and education. Massachusetts ranks No. 2 in the nation for both. The only thing surprising to me about this is that we are not ranked No. 1. Massachusetts trails only New Jersey when it comes to education, and shocking to me, Hawaii was the top-ranked state for healthcare.

Both rankings make sense, as they go hand in hand. For hundreds of years, some of the finest universities in the world have been located in Boston, including leading medical schools. These brilliant medical students land positions at desirable Boston area hospitals, which draws more bright minds to the area and the cycle continues.
Now, more than ever, people are concerned about the availability of quality healthcare. It's no secret that Massachusetts has always been regarded as the epicenter of world-class healthcare. To be among the leaders in the country in these two key indicators makes Massachusetts an extremely desirable location to live.
Massachusetts isn't Shangri La, however. There's plenty of room for improvement, according to the rankings, for infrastructure (have you seen our roads and bridges?) and fiscal stability.
