Which New England States Are Among the Nation’s Most Educated?
Anyone who knows anything knows Massachusetts is among the most educated states in the country. In fact, Massachusetts IS the most educated state in the country.
WorldPopulationReview.com says, "In the United States, more than 90% of the population over the age of 25 have a high school diploma, and 34% have a Bachelor's degree."
The site says, "The U.S. spends more on education than any other country in the world."
Wallet Hub.com says, "For millions of Americans, a good education is a ticket to a better future." The site says, "Some states were able to provide better quality education than others."
Wallet Hub "compared all 50 states across 18 metrics that examined the key factors of a well-educated population: educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and race."
Massachusetts ranks first in Wallet Hub's June 2023 study results in education attainment and quality of education.
However according to World Population Review, "Massachusetts is the most educated state in the U.S., with a total score of 81.81." The site says, "Massachusetts ranks first for Educational Attainment and third for Quality of Education."
How do the remaining five New England states rank?
Connecticut comes in as the third-most educated state, according to both Wallet Hub and World Population Review. Vermont is fourth in Wallet Hub's study, but fifth according to World Population Review. New Hampshire is eighth, Rhode Island 12th, and Maine 18th, according to Wallet Hub.
Wallet Hub and World Population Review rank West Virginia as the least the least educated state.
