23 Massachusetts Towns Named Among Safest in America
Last week, we told you about the three most dangerous cities in Massachusetts. While home to a number of safe neighborhoods, Fall River, according to crime statistics from Neighborhood Scout, is the most dangerous city on the SouthCoast.
This week, we will review the list of the safest cities and towns in Massachusetts, according to the crime rates provided by Neighborhood Scout. Incredibly, the list is quite long. A whopping 23 of the Top 100 safest towns in America are located right here in Massachusetts.
In fact, five of the top 10 safest towns in the country are here in Massachusetts.
The Commonwealth is also home to the safest city in all of America. If you know someone in Franklin, Massachusetts, you can visit them with a high degree of confidence that you will be safe. Your chance of being a victim of a crime in Franklin is only one in 524. Those are the best odds in all of America.
Here is a list, in order, of the safest cities and towns in Massachusetts:
1. Franklin
3. Milton
5. Lexington
6. Shrewsbury
10. Marshfield
14. Billerica
15. Arlington
18. Needham
19. Reading
24. Dracut
29. Andover
31. Beverly
35. Wellesley
36. Newton
40. Bridgewater
42. North Andover
49. Belmont
53. Gloucester
56. Melrose
59. Milford
60. Wakefield
77. Easton
95. Norwood
The closest towns to the SouthCoast to make the list are Bridgewater and Easton; however, that is most likely because most of the SouthCoast doesn't meet population requirements. If you are wondering why places like Westport, Fairhaven, Acushnet, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester didn't make the list, it is because only places with populations of more than 25,000 qualify.
Three Rhode Island towns made the Top 100 list including, North Providence (No. 65), Cumberland (No. 69), and South Kingstown (No. 78).
The big takeaway from this list is that Massachusetts is clearly one of the safest places to live in America, if not the entire planet.
