The Michael and Maddie show was filled with excitement and pure joy on Monday as I finally shared with the world that I was expecting my first child. It was a precious secret that I had been holding in for a while as I waited for the perfect opportunity to share it, and after having the best gender reveal on Sunday, I knew it was time.

We decided to announce the gender the best way we knew how: With a little bit of karate thrown in.

Five years ago, I met Ross at my kickboxing gym in Rhode Island. We started as teammates, then friends, then more than friends. Over the past four years, we have fallen in love, got married, bought a home, and now, our next journey begins with the announcement of our first child together.

Since we met in a martial arts gym, it was only fitting to incorporate it into our big gender reveal, and with our closest friends and family present, we hosted a fall-inspired party to celebrate.

“Boo or Ghoul? What will our little pumpkin be?”

Both corny and perfect at the same time.

But the best part of the party was the big reveal. Friends and family gathered in front of our home as I held a giant black balloon filled with powder.

Would it be pink or blue powder? My mother was the only one that knew.

After a quick countdown, Ross prepared for his spinning tornado kick, and with one clean kick, the balloon popped, and a bright burst of color came flying out of the balloon.

Watch the exciting moment below as we found out that we were having a boy!
