It's been about 12 years or so since I entered the music industry and getting to know the artists behind the scenes has always been interesting.

As someone who works at a radio station, I am constantly hearing new music come in and out of the studio speakers, and every now and again I get a chance to sit down for a little one-on-one with the artists.

This time, I was honored to get to pick the brain via Zoom of up and coming artist who is making a huge splash worldwide, not just here in the U.S.

His name is Golden Landis Von Jones, but he goes by 24kGoldn.

He's the rapper behind the current smash hit “Mood” now playing all day long here on Fun 107. It was released over the summer and is now No. 1 on Global Spotify, No. 2 on U.S. Spotify, and climbing to that top 10 spot for pop. His music video on YouTube alone has reached 26 million views and counting. It's safe to say that he's breaking barriers at a swift speed.

Got TikTok? You're likely to run into him eventually. I found that maybe one out of every 10 TikToks, someone is using his music. I guess you can say he's "TikTok famous."

One thing I make for certain is to check out the music videos before interviewing anyone, to get some out of the box questions about things that grab my attention in the video that need answers. I call it "unfolding the music video."

Right off the bat, the one-on-one with Golden was chill, easy-going. He respects the game and knows what it takes to dig deep and follow your gut instinct. Work hard and keep climbing, I can respect that flow.

Before letting 24k get back to his busy (and new) lifestyle in the business, I had to pop him with the ever-burning question:

"If you had to fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses, which would you fight?"

Check out the video to reveal his answer and be sure to tune in on the app and Fun 107 to catch 24kGoldn's hit "Mood" on the SouthCoast's No. 1 hit music station.
