I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook, as I think many people do. It's great to connect with people and I'm thankful for connections I've made because of the site, which otherwise would have been impossible or at the very least, difficult. It is full of drama though, which can be hard to escape, and then there's that pesky issue of people just knowing way too much about me. However, I think the positives outweigh the negatives on Facebook, and this story here just adds another notch into the positive column!

Facebook is very powerful when it comes to getting the word out about things, whether good or bad, you can count on Facebook users to hit that share button. For a local family in Weymouth, MA, that is a good thing!

Donnajean Sardano and her 16-year-old son Brandon, who has Down Syndrome and Autism, paid a visit to one of there favorite places this past weekend, Castle Island. Brandon had brought his favorite thing with him on the trip, a prized ball of string that he had been collecting for years, and somehow the ball of string escaped him and was lost.

Brandon was devastated, as he brought the ball of string with him everywhere. He and his Mom retraced their steps, but the ball of string was nowhere to be found. That is, until she posted the story on Facebook.

That was when the power of social media took over and Donna's friends and even some strangers shared her story. By Monday morning, Brandon was happily reunited with his string. A woman reached out to Donnajean after finding the ball of string in a dumpster.

Chalk this one up to another positive way social media is used! Brandon's Mom said "she has never been so touched by kind, caring people she never met and for them to take time out of their day for her and her family."
