The Dunkin’ Facebook Page ‘Accidentally’ Posted Some Strange Stuff
Could someone please conduct a wellness check on Dunkin'?
On Monday, April 8th, the Facebook account for the New England giant descended into chaos, leaving their 16 million followers puzzled. One this is certain- Dunkin's social media almost collapsed into shambles due to user-error.
Around 6:30 AM, an obscure post hinted that something was wrong.
Shortly after, the confusion escalated as both the cover photo and profile picture were changed. The profile picture featured a t-shirt slogan reading "There's no need to drive me crazy, I'm close enough to walk," while the cover photo depicted an unappealing cooking pan filled with what seemed to be collard greens. It was evident that someone had failed to switch from the business account to their personal account.
Thankfully, within an hour-and-a-half, Dunkin's Facebook page reverted back to normal. The correct profile photo with the logo was restored, along with the original cover photo showcasing a tray filled with iced and hot coffee and a baked item. An apology followed, leaving speculation as to whether the episode was a mistake or a brilliant marketing strategy to spark conversation.
I'd like to think that of this chaotic situation as a reminder that even successful and large businesses are not immune to mishaps. Let's just count our blessings that the only thing shared was a pan of cooked collard greens, as Dunkin' could have suffered much more severe consequences. One thing is certain—someone at Dunkin' likely needed more than a cup of coffee to kickstart their day.
