The expression "blink and you'll miss it" could easily apply to the smallest town in Massachusetts.  It's actually an easy drive from the Southcoast, and you may have already been there without even knowing it.

Popponesset Island is on the Nantucket Sound coast of Cape Cod, not far from East Falmouth.  According to Wikipedia.org, it has a population of 26, based on the 2010 census.  That was 13 people fewer than the town's population in the 2000 census.

The Wiki site says the island was used for amphibious assault training during World War II.  The median population age of Popponesett Island is 58, and the income level is above average.

This tiny town on the Cape Cod coast might be worth a visit this fall.  Just don't blink.
