I thought it was going to be a lot worse than it was. Michael, on the other hand, almost threw up.

Celery juice is all the rage these days with celebrities and athletes like Jennifer Aniston and Tom Brady. Straight celery juice is much more potent than the basic juice drinks on the market that include celery as just one of the ingredients.

Celery juice experts are claiming a 12-ounce glass once a day can deliver major benefits to your body, starting with inflammation. An alarming number of Americans suffer from inflammation and don't even know they have it. Basically, if you eat anything with added sugar in it on a daily or regular basis, you suffer from some level of inflammation. And most of us are, yes, addicted to sugar. And we're not talking about eating candy and cupcakes type of sugar every day. Even if you eat white carbs like pasta, rice and potatoes – that, my friends, is sugar. And all of the sauces, gravies, dressings and even ketchup are loaded with added sugar.

I started occasional juicing about a year ago and have stayed pretty mainstream by sticking with the basic greens mix or the Vitamin C-type of juices. I have been considering trying celery juice, as there are lots of friends I know that do this and I follow a few of my favorite health and wellness peeps on Instagram who swear by celery juice.

This morning was my first real authentic celery juice and celery juice only. And of course, I had to get Michael in on this special treat, too. I told him that a daily shot of celery juice will keep him from getting sick. He believed me.

Watch us toast to good health in the video above, as we down a glass of celery juice for the very first time. For me, it wasn't that bad. I'm pretty sure I can do this every day. For Michael, well, he almost threw up.
