I know for a fact that this pandemic has been driving everyone crazy, being stuck in the house all day with not much to do is not exactly the ideal way to have fun. Now, what if I told you that there was a place that could get the whole family out of the house for a safe yet fun event that involves Nerf guns?
Located at 150 Andover Street in Danvers, MA, Gymja Warrior is one of many ninja warrior and parkour gyms throughout the state and has recently added a Nerf gun arena to their resume. The best part: it’s for all ages so parents, grab some Nerf guns, and warm up the car. The arena is only about an hour away but is guaranteed to be worth the ride.
The indoor fitness facility holds two different Nerf battles. One battle is called Nerf War, which is held in one of their arena spaces for ages 12 and up and lasts about 90 minutes per session. The second battle is called Nerf War XL, with the same age and time limit as Nerf War, but the Nerf War XL is held in a bigger arena which seems to be more fun for participants in the higher age range.
The goal of these battles is to get everyone moving and to have fun. Although the Nerf bullets are foam, the floor is not, so Gymja has some safety precautions in place to make sure everyone has a good and safe time during their Nerf war. Masks are to be worn at all times and social distancing is highly encouraged within the facility.
Believe it or not, there are actually two locations where you can join a Nerf War; the other facility is also about an hour away, at 10U Gill Street in Woburn. The team at Gymja Warrior does just ask that you call ahead to make sure they are holding a Nerf war on select scheduled nights and yes- you have to bring your own Nerf guns. All the details can be found on their website.
I have to say, I have never seen a Nerf gun arena before, so consider this another addition to my bucket list.
