Cinco de Mayo on a Monday is not ideal, but one Massachusetts Mexican eatery is helping.  Anejo Mexican Bistro is using its clout to get Massachusetts workers the day off by dropping a clutch Cinco de Mayo doctor's note

A Mexican restaurant with locations in Plymouth, Falmouth, and Hyannis is going to bat for all of us. Anejo Mexican Bistro, located in the former Sam Diego’s spot, is a relatively upscale eatery and a newer addition to downtown Plymouth. That’s why we were a little surprised (in the best way) to see this level of tomfoolery from them.

Anejo Mexican Bistro's Perfectly Timed Cinco de Mayo Move

Anejo chose their moment carefully. It was late Friday morning heading into Cinco de Mayo weekend. For those unaware, Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for “the fifth of May.” The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Interestingly, the holiday is a minor one in Mexico, but in the United States, it has become a major celebration, often fueled by tequila, margaritas, and lots and lots of tacos.

Anejo's Viral ‘Doctor’s Note’ for May 6 Is Hilariously Spot-On

In an effort to support the hardworking people of the Bay State, Anejo released a  doctor’s note, excusing everyone from work on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the day after Cinco de Mayo. The idea is simple: take time to recover from the night before and keep the celebration going.
