Acushnet Woman Struck By Car Has Lengthly Recovery Ahead of Her

Jodie Estrella who was hit by a car August 27th on Main Street in Acushnet, is making progress but has a long way to go.

According to South Coast Today, the 46 year old woman was celebrating her birthday when her dog dashed off. Acting off instinct and not thinking, Jodie ran after the dog and was hit by a car and critically injured.

She was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and then was transported by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.  During the helicopter ride, they didn't think she was going to make it.

Jodie is facing many obstacles with a brain bleed, a broken back and three broken limbs.  She was taken off a breathing tube Wednesday and now is battling pneumonia.

Luckily, Jodie is surrounded by her family and close friends as she has many surgeries ahead of her.
