Chicken lovers are screaming "Yas" at a new spot opening up on Thayer Street in Providence.

This weekend, you might consider making a special trip to the Renaissance City to try what is rumored to be some of the best chicken out there — at least according to several Boston bloggers and a handful of TikTok influencers.

Yas Chicken, if you haven't heard of it, is an Asian-fusion chicken restaurant owned by a Swansea/Somerset area family, the Zhangs.

“We really wanted to incorporate some Asian flavors to chicken sandwiches and add our own spin on the sandwiches as well as the tenders and the wings,” one owner Jun Zhang said.

Yas Chicken now has three locations in New England. The Providence shop joins Lynn and Lawerence, which opened in 2022 and got the cities buzzing right away.

The same could be true with Yas Chicken opening up on one of the busiest streets in Providence. With Brown students looking for good eats, this place is sure to satisfy.

As far as the name goes, what you might be thinking is actually true. The owners absolutely wanted "chicken" in the name because, well, that's what they serve. As for the "Yas" part, here's what Jun had to say:

“It’s a play on the whole ‘Yas Queen’ to ‘Yas Chicken.'”

The Yas Chicken Facebook page has some drool-worthy photos of the offerings. The restaurant even has its own Yas sauce.

Yas Chicken is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., though it might need to extend its hours for this location.

The SouthCoast Hot Wing Project

WBSM's Tim Weisberg and his son Adam spent six months touring the SouthCoast area from New Bedford to Fall River to Dartmouth to Norton and beyond, trying some of the supposed hottest wings around – and also gave some other unique wing flavors a shot, too.
