Why You Won’t Hear Nick Cannon Or Mariah Carey Talk About Divorce
Nick Cannon has officially filed for divorce from Mariah Carey, but you definitely won't be hearing either of them talking about the split...and there's a very good reason why.
It is no surprise that Mariah Carey was the clear breadwinner of the relationship when the two got married in 2008. Her net worth was estimated at $150 million (so much that $30 million was listed as miscellaneous in their pre-nup) and his was around $500K. But they both stand to lose big bucks if they talk about their split.
Sources tell TMZ that their pre-nup from six years ago came with an ironclad confidentiality agreement and if either of them violates that, they have to pay up.
Mariah actually has more to lose if she talks than Nick does, which seems strange to me cause Nick Cannon clearly also has more to gain from spilling the beans about what living with Carey is really like. But if she talks about the marriage or divorce she'll have to pay her ex $500,000. And if he violates the agreement the same way, it's a $250,000 penalty to Mariah.
Guess that means we'll never know just how much of that $150 million Cannon left the relationship with.
