Westport Scam Says Fire Department

The towns fire department and firefighters union are warning residents of a possible scam.

This morning, the Westport Fire Department Facebook page posted to residents that they should beware of a potential scam happening in town involving a fundraiser and donations.

This is what they want the public to know...

"The Westport Fire Department and the Westport Permanent Firefighters Association Local 1802 ARE NOT currently conducting a fundraising/donation campaign at this time. If you or your family member is asked by phone to make a donation and leave it on your door marked “fire department” please do not donate, it is a scam. We would ask you to contact the Westport Police Department @ 508-636-1122 to report this."
