Warwick, RI has just been named the safest city in America and many locals are stunned.

They say "numbers don't lie" and while that may be true, the numbers can still surprise you. That was certainly the case when I first read WalletHub's 2025 findings on the safest cities in America.

The personal finance website designed to help people manage their money used their skills with numbers to compile the data, and somehow Warwick landed atop this year's "Safest Cities in America" study.

How the Ranking Was Calculated

In this safe city study released on October 20, 2025, WalletHub used 41 key indicators of safety in over 180 cities across America.

The site crunched the numbers on things like fatalities per capita and assaults per capita along with unemployment rates and number of uninsured residents. From there they found that although Warwick was not first in any of their 41 indicators, it did rank low in many categories and therefore numerically came out as the safest city in America.

As the site says, Warwick ranked third-lowest for aggravated assaults,  32nd-lowest for murders (out of 182 cities) and seventh-lowest for theft. It also did well in the natural disaster category with seventh-lowest risk of hail and 10th-lowest risk of wildfires.

Financial Stability: Poverty, Insurance and Fraud Metrics

Even Warwick's financial safety numbers were good, ranking fourth-lowest for both percentage of residents living in poverty and percentage of residents without health insurance.

Just last Christmas, Warwick got some serious hype from The Today Show as a fantastic vacation spot.
