
New Rhode Island Spot Previews Food Ahead of Official Opening
"EXCITING NEWS!" The Little Compton Historical Society shared. Elsie's on the Commons, a brand new neighborhood gathering place, will serve food for the very first time. Though it hasn't officially opened to the public, they will be serving up some delicious bites at the Little Compton Historical Society’s Tavern Night.
First Taste of Elsie’s on the Commons
On Friday, July 24, 2026, guests are welcome to join in on the fun with a night full of food, music and more. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the community will gather in what will soon be a go-to for locals.
Elsie's on the Commons describes its location as a place "where locals and visitors can find common ground around great food, warm hospitality, and good company."

Event Details and What’s on the Menu
Admission to the Tavern Night is free and all ages are welcome. Plenty of food and drink will be available for purchase. Plus, colonial-era crafts and games are available, some for free, and some for a small cost. "Elsie’s food tent will offer clam chowder, stuffed quahogs, and steak and cheese sandwiches. Anita's Hot Dog Cart will also be there with tasty dogs and ice cream treats," Little Compton Historical Society wrote.

Free Exhibit Admission and Location Info
The event is a big one, so the historical society is pulling out all the stops. Live music will be enjoyed and admission to the new exhibit “Revolutionary Little Compton” is complimentary. Elsie's on the Commons is located at 548 West Main Road in Little Compton.
