Folk Artist Medium Build Thought Newport Was… Delaware?
For recording artists the summer festival season is probably a bit of a blur. Traveling city-to-city, performing for crowd after crowd, surviving on coffee and catering—it all must blend together.
Yet, you should probably still know what state you're in, right? Especially when that state is home to the iconic Newport Folk Festival.
Wait, What State Is This?
Though the event has hosted genre greats from Bob Dylan to Phoebe Bridgers, newcomer Medium Build was a little confused this weekend as to where he actually was.

In a profanity filled video about his set, the artist (whose real name is Nicholas Carpenter) copped to his "spotty geography" and how he didn't know if he was in Massachusetts, Connecticut or Delaware.

From Confusion to Compliments
Despite Medium Build's confusion about his location, he redeemed himself with his absolute rave over the festival itself.

He goes on to talk about how incredible the crowd was, singing and dancing, how easy it was to get to every stage and how the festival didn't feel like just people "exchanging money." He even says "I actually don't even know if anyone made any money."
Why Newport Folk Still Feels Different
At a time when ticket prices can feel downright painful, it's truly amazing to hear an artist state that a festival still feels authentic and rooted in music.
Not all that surprising for the Newport Folk Festival, which has been about the shared love of music since 1959.
