TIVERTON (WBSM) —  A rollover crash in Tiverton, Rhode Island sent one person to the hospital in critical condition.

On Sunday, December 31 at about 6:20 p.m., Tiverton Police  responded to a rollover vehicle accident on Stone Church Road in the area of Sylvia Road.

According to the Tiverton Police Department Facebook, officers located the vehicle in the woods with two occupants upon arriving on the scene.

The Tiverton Fire Department assisted and extricated the 25-year-old male operator from the vehicle utilizing the Jaws of Life. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via MedFlight in critical condition.

The front passenger, a 27-year-old male, was able to remove himself from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

Police said preliminary Investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling north on Stone Church Road before exiting the roadway for unknown reasons.

The crash remains under investigation.
